SeedOurFuture FAQ

Where are the forestry projects taking place?
Numerous agro forestry projects are currently operating all around the world.  There are projects operating in Honduras, Senegal, Cameroon, Zambia, Ethiopia, India and the Philippines. The Seed Our Future project has the potential to bestow a positive impact on the lives of millions of people.  Trees that are planted in any active project in any location help remove CO2 all around the world.

What other areas are being considered?
While there are no active agroforestry projects in North America
At this time, we are currently working toward this probability.  There are also several other locations that are being considered  such as Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Burundi, Guatemala, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Mali, Tanzania and Uganda.

How do the projects work?
By allowing communities from all over the globe to apply for a project to be established in their area.

People and communities interested in improving the quality and sustainability of their forests, through protection, restoration, planning and management are welcome to submit an application for a project to be established in their own region.  The application will be reviewed along with all the details of the prospective project then with adequate fund availability, new projects will be put into operation.

How will this program help bring natural diversity back to degraded areas?
It starts by restoring an environmental balance to the land.  We plant trees that are fast growing and multi-purpose which then help to provide shade and lower daytime temperatures, return nutrients to the soil and bring water to aquifers.

Old roots and seeds can lie dormant in degraded soil just waiting for the right conditions that will allow them to grow again.  Our program restores the conditions that are necessary to the land and the natural environment once again emerges.

Why donate?
Because you care about the environment.  Because you want to be a part of a program that greatly benefits threatened lands and because it’s important to increase public awareness of tree benefits, provide tree-care education and involve citizen in forestry programs.

Does donating really help?
Yes!  Depending on the particular promotion you support, one or several trees will be planted once you completed the redemption steps.  Planting just one tree may seem insignificant in terms of having a global impact but the fact is trees are responsible for the “green infrastructure” that not only provides clean air and pure water but helps protect, restore and enhance the quality of our environment.  A healthy tree stores about 13 pounds of carbon annually which works out to be about 2.6 tons per acre each year.

If every family in America planted one tree, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere would be reduced by one billion lbs annually.

Are only indigenous tree species being planted?

No.  Before diversity can be restored proper conditions that will allow native species to grow must be created.  Most of the species that had existed in mature forests were not able endure the harshness of direct sunlight frequently experienced by degraded land.  It is not possible to start a project with indigenous trees and plants due to the damage that has been done to the forests that occupied the land.  Other local and naturalized fast-growing, multi-purpose trees must be planted in order to provide the shade, cooler temperatures and moist soil which work to bring about the regeneration and continuous return of indigenous diversity.

What kinds of trees are being planted?

Trees that are included in forestry projects are chosen carefully.  Each project is distinctive and there may be specific requirements that need to be taken into consideration.  Native tree species are planted whenever possible.  In cases where a native species is not capable of growing successfully a substitute species is used as a replacement.
